Is Homeschooling Legal?

Is Homeschooling Legal?

In case you are wondering, YES, homeschooling is legal in all 50 United States, although, the requirements vary from state to state.

You will need to check with your individual state for exact legal requirements.

The Home School Legal Defense Association website is a great place to start researching these requirements. Here is another website which gives a state by state rundown.

Legal Worries

In our initial discussions about educating our children at home, many parents worry about the legality of it, and rightly so.

We have been conditioned to believe that we, the parents, are not qualified or allowed to teach our own children.

This is simply not true.

If you are willing and able, you can educate your children yourself. You do not need the state to tell you when, why or how to educate them, just as you do not need the state to tell you what to feed your children or when to put them to bed at night.

You Are The BEST Teacher!

You, the parent, love and care for your children more than anyone else in the world. Because you have your children’s best interests in mind, you will put your best efforts into educating them.

Believe in yourself and educate yourself on how to teach your children. You can do it!

In fact, you are the BEST person to educate them because they are YOUR children.

You know them intimately and can help them reach their greatest potential.

Encourage your children to pursue their interests and passions and point them in the direction that they are best suited for a future career and a happy, fulfilling life.

As the Nike slogan says, “Just Do It!”

How are you overcoming your fears of educating at home?
